Have Questions About Our Company, Windows Or Doors?
Our FAQ Has The Answers.
Window FAQ
Q: Aren’t All Window & Door Companies Basically The Same?
A: Not at all. Different companies have different goals. Some want to be the largest while others go after lower end, “cheaper is better” markets. Companies have different levels of experience, install different products, charge different prices, have different warranties and so on. That’s why it is so important to do your due diligence when considering a company (that’s where a free copy of Contractor Standards Guide can help!).
Q: What Makes You Different?
A: Simply put, we care about doing a great job. Dilworth Windows & Doors is a professional installation company that offers great products that look great and are manufactured with the highest quality components. Most other companies are marketing companies that sell windows and subcontract the installation. The fact that we care shines through in everything we do—from our zero-pressure consultations to our superb installation to our stellar service.
Q: How Long Have You Been In Business?
A: We have been an established window and door company in Westmont, IL since 1993. But our remodeling roots date back much further. Owner Jerry Dilworth has been in the remodeling business since 1980. Our employed installers have 100+ years of combined home improvement experience. When you hire Dilworth, your window and door project is in the most experienced hands possible.
Q: How Does Your Window & Door Design Process Work?
A: There are dozens of window styles, grids, painted colors, stain finishes and brands—and not all of them are right for your home. We take the time, with you, to determine the right windows and doors for your situation with our Professional Design process.
Q: Can You Provide A “Ball Park” Quote Over Email Or A Phone Call?
A: No – we do not ‘Ball Park”. While we’d love to be able to provide you with a quote over email or a phone call, it’s not possible to provide an accurate estimate without inspecting your home. The good news is that our quotes are pressure-free and 100% accurate. We provide you with the best solution at the best price possible… and then let you make the final decision.
Q: How Are Your Prices?
A: Our goal was never to be a cheap route to go—we understand that quality costs a little more, but it pays in the long run. We are not the cheapest, but we guarantee the absolute best value for your hard-earned money. We charge what it takes to do the job right… the first time. We sell the industry’s best windows and doors, provide expert installation and create a professional, pleasant replacement experience.
Q: Do You Use Subcontractors?
A: No. Our installers are employees—all trained, experienced professionals. They have insurance, benefits, paid time off, etc. By having an in-house crew, we can train them from the ground-up in the Dilworth philosophy of doing the job right the first time and treating you and your home with respect. Q: Do You Offer Financing?
A: Yes! Our financing programs make it easy to afford the project you want… not the project you have to settle for. We provide many forms of financing with most approvals in less than 60 seconds. Visit our Prices/Financing page for more information.
Q: What Is Your Stance On Sales Pressure?
A: We are firmly against sales pressure, which is all too standard in this industry. Our approach is to develop a relationship based on trust. We make suggestions that are best for your home’s longevity, resale value and overall aesthetics. Once we provide you with our expert advice, we step back and let you make the final decision.
Q: What Areas Do You Service?
A: We provide windows and doors for Naperville, Darien, Wheaton, Western Springs, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, and the surrounding areas.
Door FAQ
Q: How Do I Know If I Need A New Door?
A: Besides appearance, there are a number of reasons you may need new doors. Is your door drafty? Is it secure? Is it worn down from years of use? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, a new door might be in your near future. If you want an expert opinion, contact us for a free, no-pressure consultation. We’ll provide you with the right solutions and unsurpassed design ideas and then let you make the final decision.
Q: What Are The Different Materials Doors Are Made From?
A: Most entry doors are made of steel, fiberglass or wood. Patio doors are often made of wood or vinyl. The type of material that is right for you depends on your tastes and needs, your current home, and how much you want to invest. If you have trouble choosing which door(s) would work best for you, we are experts who can help you make the best decision for your situation.
Q: Why Is R-Value Important For A Door?
A: R-value measures how well a material insulates (i.e., how well it protects one side from heat or cold from the other side). The higher the R-value number, the better it insulates. Most steel and fiberglass entry doors with a good polyurethane foam core have an R-value from R-5 to R-6 (not including if the door has glass). This amount of R-value is optimal for keeping your home comfortable and cutting energy costs. See how our ProVia Entry Doors (link) look incredible and perform the best.
Q: Can A New Door Really Reduce My Energy Bills?
A: You bet. Just a single energy-efficient exterior door can save you 10% on your energy bills every year. To put that in perspective, if you’re average monthly utility bill is $200, you can save $240 every year with an energy-efficient entry door.
